A Beach Bum's Backpack (Cool Little Phrases)

Ok as I move onto my beach bum lifestyle (with some responsibilities and interest beyond general slumming around and coconut flavored beverages) I got this super cool backpack to travel. Something I kind of wanted to do a lot more of before I get too old. The cool thing about Beach Bumming is saying phrases like .....Hakuna Matata and meaning it!

Tons of space and lots of pouches. Something like 50L and you can carry it on. Has a waist belt for more serious hiking. About $80. Not bad.

U.S. Treasury Department Says Investments in U.S. Manufacturing is Market Anomaly (Digital Platform Shift?)

Source: US Treasury
They also have a cool emblem.
The U.S. Treasure came up with some interesting reports on how the U.S. manufacturing construction has risen. This would be the precursor to actual larger scale manufacturing. On this level with the multiple forms of infrastructure investment and a new sense of focus by our somewhat prior political insanity we may find ourselves maintaining our position on the top of the global economic pack (Hopefully prior but there are some remnants out there of more political versus practical decisions being made. Sorry, won't go into it now....πŸ™…).

We need innovation, prototypes, and mass manufacturing. This is why I believe that human capital development mixed with rapid innovation systems can create new innovative products that eventually leads to larger scale manufacturing application through intra and extra entrepreneurship. Let us not mention the potential for profit that wets the palate of the most seasoned investment bulls.

They indicate that based on a comparison of other countries like the U.S. we are a market anomaly. (One might consider the possibility of a platform shift. I mean its possible and it has happened at other times in history. Its not a fact, it just a possibility.)

Unpacking the Boom in U.S. Construction of Manufacturing Facilities

This is why I think there could be a boon fairly soon 23/24. However, the market has change significantly so I'm curious if it still holds true. It looked good at the time I forecasted. We have lots of mixed data out there.

I also like this article because it talks about the potential for economic growth brought forward by COVID market disruptions that rippled the economic structure and pushed it into the Digital Era

Escanaba Harbor, Great Lakes Fish Rejuvenation and Perpetual Sustainable Economies

A video of Escanaba Harbor a few weeks ago when I went out fishing. I didn't catch anything and neither did a few others. One guy said he did but that was a few days ago. I think we need to find a way to bring back our fish stocks and improve the health of the Great Lakes. While they look pretty good in my area, I'm pretty sure that protecting the world's largest fresh water natural resources as well as a huge potential protein source (while the world is in desperate need of such fresh protein) would be a good idea.

Maybe if we get really good at creating sustainable systems we might be able to raise the ecological health of the Great Lakes, the commercial fishing capacity, and the economy at the same time (They call that a net positive. Based on total government investment and market investment we have an improving system along with improving economic benefit. We struggle with thinking about that when designing government policies sometimes. Other times we get it right. Macro economic and big data are dating so their offspring is likely going to be thinking about sustainable systems and larger environments of innovative development.)

Escanaba is one of those places that is on the cusp of an upswing. We have a few solid and functioning forward thinking leadership, a catalyst for change, and huge potential in a couple of different markets. Everyone sort of creates a vision and I think they might someday call it something like 'Escanaba the Dubai of the Great Lakes' πŸ˜‚where investment, vacation, and recreation abound (Ok....its just theoretically. Sorry, I go down those paths of possibilities and probabilities just to see if its possible under the right circumstances. I should probably define the term Dubai because I have a Muslim sounding name so everyone gets confused and sometimes upset. I meant Dubai as an investment rich fun place to frequent that attracts some of the worlds leading investors and thinkers. I have no direct connection to Dubai as far as I know and am not advocating for it. I'm using it like a term such as the business magnet's quote from Richard Bronsons "In this digital age, it doesn't really matter if you are in Canary Wharf or the Caribbean; there are opportunities waiting to be grasped by entrepreneurs.").

The loud motor? Kind of a cheap motor from Asia that is unlikely to be healthy for our environment (It actually runs but is loud and smelly). Someone please invent a longer capacity small boat electric motor. I think the issue is the battery and the weight versus the thrust and capacity of current electric motors.

U.P. Towns Not Growing as Fast as Wisconsin: Delta County MI May Red Buck the Trend!

Small towns in the U.P. have a lot of potential but there hasn't really been a coordinated effort to ensure they grow. A whole new array of people are out there that want to be digital nomads. According to this article below the Wisconsin side is growing while the U.P. are not. For example, Delta County Michigan is growing and there are reasons why that is the case and why there is a lot of room for improvement.

Western Upper Peninsula towns empty out, look to Wisconsin for lessons

Why Delta County is Growing as there is likely to be a 2K population Billerud increase that could be retained and maximized.

1. New investment
2. Coordinated effort to improve the community.
3. Marina, docks, recreation, and events.
4. A desire to attract new investments (No concerted plan I can see that offers packages for investors. This might be where local bank, investor fund, entrepreneurs, state, federal and city government might coordinate some efforts. Personally I think they should attract tourism based export businesses like custom golf clubs, snow shoes, and other things that can have a store front but will find most of their sales overseas. That would require some effort on collaborating on creating an export market for their products, getting them listed in marketspaces and then marketing those products to wholesalers. That would allow larger anchor businesses to follow suit and maximize their marketing efforts as well. i.e. a marketing fund.)
5. Internet, Rail, Port, and other infrastructure.
6. Local recreation and outdoor tourism
7. Unused commercial downtown space that could attract business (i.e. if it was marketed to investors/entrepreneurs).
8. More

Why It May Lag

1. Partial dysfunction at least one layer of government (i.e. Escanaba and Gladstone seem to be doing fine but the county could use some work.)
2. A need for local enforcement reform that is open minded to new investors, people, and nationalities (Ensuring they are not following their social groups and the less lofty values of their social groups).
3. Open social groups that seek to make newcomers welcome and involved with the community (Some are open and welcoming and there are a few that are not. ).
4. Lacking a central place to showcase all of the events to maximize participation.
5. More

There are probably more but that is the first start. For example we can talk about investment packages and marketing but that is a different discussion.

The Stages of Life: For Geniuses

Young Man with a Skull (Vanitas)
by Frans Hals (c.1628)
You know, I have been told that I'm a highly gifted/genius and my son has been told the same. The issue is that I pretty much figured I didn't know much in my life because I never had the answers. There simply was too many possibilities and I would think something to be true by percentage and most people told me I was wrong (Of course I think I'm wrong because there is good chance I am.). Somewhere along the line I ended up being more correct typically (even though I'm wrong a lot) than the average person.

I never really understood the difference between how I think and how others think throughout my life but somewhere along the line I figured out that many people say things as fact when they are just opinions. They are not always well thought out opinions but said for very social reasons (something we likely inherited as a species trait to raise our perceived knowledge and intelligence as a survival mechanism.)

As an example, there are these OEs that impact a persons understanding of the world around them. They are the gifted curse aspects. Scientists look for the big 3 but sometimes you get them all (I'm not sure how rare that is. I'm not a neurologist). High intelligence and other OEs mixed in average environments often lead to levels of conflict. Because Gifted have a deep sense of morality even if not conventional on first judgement they don't like it when people cheat the system.

(You kind of can't fight it anymore if someone comes up yelling, "Your not a genius, your an idiot" and you think about and respect their opinion as one feedback. You then break apart their verbal language, environmental cues, and potential psychological profile to determine what the intent of the message was and how that may have impacted one's thinking. Only then you can say, "Thank you. Your feedback is valid" with a smile.πŸ’)

Thus, we get into situations in which I suspect where two moralities may collide. One seems environmental homeostasis and the other seeks essential moral truth (Beyond the opinions people tell each other. There is a deeper moral code that is cross cultural that is a root of understanding for our species and it manifests itself in various tales, religious texts, practices and behaviors. )  One might seek universal justice and the other subjective justice (That is why I you don't own something if someone can take it. So free passes, enrichment through criminal behaviors, targeting, etc. are all violation of cross cultural root beliefs. i.e. one focusing on the clan and the other focusing on society.

Dabrowski Theory of Positive Disintegration.

1. Childhood exploration. Not very easy a cripple from what I remember but this is the time you learn childhood things.

2. Skill development. I think you come to a point that you develop certain skills and abilities.

3. Skill mastery. You begin to master those skills and notice you are better then most but not better then the best.

4. Environmental challenge. You begin to challenge your environment and figure out how things work.  You question peoples behaviors and essential values.

5. Environmental mastery. You beat out those challenges and understand much of how the systems function in the background.

6. Beach Bum (Self Actualization). Basically I think this is the stage where one sort of understands their environment, the nature of life, and one's place within the bigger scheme of things. People do sort of good but they must also accept the inevitable world knot and one's awareness of the fish bowl in which we live. Thus, one understands they are passing time and making the best of that time and getting done a few good things while not being overly worried about it anymore because even humanity's development follows a path of its own, its own time frame, with multiple avenues it can select. Putting a few bread crumbs out there that you think can help, but people go where their self interest drives them and you must let them choose their own paths and live by those choices (You then realize being smart is neither good or bad but qualitatively and quantitatively different than many others. Should we brag about intelligence, I guess not unless we brag about things like shoe sizes.).

Cats and Coffee:Lucky Cat Cafe 502

The other day I was out with a friend and we saw this Lucky Cat Cafe 502. The concept is cool. I will likely try it out someday while I'm working.

It's interesting concepts like this that sometimes start trends.

Adaptors of AI: Characteristics of Early Adaptor Organizations

Research vessel
could be run by AI.
These are remote not AI I think.
Innovative nations create patents as innovators and move those to early adaptors who try out and implement products. One can come up with the idea and often others use that information quickly to solve customer problems and make a high return on investment. As we move into the Digital Era we can watch how AI is being used at increasingly more places and industries.

(Ok, As a side note kind of funny I still think about the ramifications of not having an off switch. So weird were talking about this stuff when I was a kid it was total Sci Fi

Societies who can maximize innovators and adaptors can build faster than others. Science, innovation and  industry adaptation is the name of the GDP game. We have to think about the right pieces that create rapid innovation (I'm thinking in more of a systems or cluster form. I.E. Delta County Model

You can learn about how AI is being applied in the article, Our early-adopters index examines how corporate America is deploying AI we find there are five early adaptor sectors.

Technology
Banks
Retail
Aerospace
Auto Makers

This is the beginning of advanced manufacturing in this Era. That is especially true in auto, aerospace and military sectors. Consider Digital GDP on Govt. Mind
