August 19th, 2020 President Trump Discusses Issues that Range from Iran to Race Relations

A lot of things were being discussed in this press briefing. Everything from Iran to QAnon Movement. I never heard of QAnon until now and I don't know anything about them. As a nation we are likely in a cultural clash now where multiple voices want to be heard. There should be some middle ground between the different sides. We do know the justice system needs reform but that doesn't mean police are the enemy. Most officers do the best they can and it would be great if we can respect the profession and focus on those changes that ensure that "bad apples" don't ruin the names of good officers.

There is no far right or far left on these issues as there is only American lives that are being injured and a nation that limps along as it struggles with new ways of viewing the world. We must adapt as a country to ensure our Justice System is universalized but at the same time respect the risks and efforts many of our officers have willingly sworn an oath to. Sure...there is a need to become more aware of racism and its impact on society and our justice system while at the same time create greater connections between officers and communities of different backgrounds.

I can say that I have been on the receiving end of racism/bigotry and in one incident police racism/bigotry that should have never have occurred if there was objectiveness. At the same time, police also did the right thing and looked beyond the bigotry of the perpetrators to greater awareness of the situation so I have a great amount of respect for the Men in Blue. It seems to me we need to work on finding a reasonable and fair approach between the multiple sides to find some way of approaching this issue. We can reform the Justice System and support the further effectiveness and development of our police.

Personally I think good officers are underappreciated and the people protesting are not protesting against all officers but against systematic racism and against those officers that should have never been honored with a badge in the first place.  We must ensure that Americans of different backgrounds are motivated and treated to engage their communities and economic system fully. That can't happen unless we give up past distorted views. Thus, all of our institutions and our nation as a whole should judge people by their character and not on superficial differences.

I lived with Blacks for many years in the Detroit area and never had any major issues and learned what many of their concerns are in terms of hopes, dreams and racism. At the same time, I also lived with Whites and grew up in a rural community and understand what the dividing line looks like in terms of fears and concerns. The sad part is much of the differences are socially constructed and based on the stories we tell each other that have little to do with who we really are and what we should want for our future as a single people.

Our perspective is sometimes our worst enemy.  How do we change that perception?

This seems to be a make or break it time for our nation. There must be a way through the chaos! It is believed by some theorists that we are run by patterns and thus there is a way to utilize current chaos to create something better if we believe that is possible. We are becoming..... You can read about Chaos Theory HERE.

Governor Whitmere at DNC Video-Listening to Societal Stakeholders

Here is a video of Governor Whitmere at DNC. While I'm a Republican and I know that politics is politics I do recognize the need for leaders who can work across the isle and put America first. As Americans we should be aware of what the national dialogue is and what is most important to people. It makes no difference whether we are Republican or Democrat because I believe we all have a stake in how our nation turns out. If we can get our leadership working together on both sides and truly listen to what each other is saying we can probably come up with some great ideas, focus on solutions, and work together to rebuild our country and opportunities for this generation.

One of the ways to find solutions is to be divergent and listen to the essential messages of multiple stakeholders to find the best path moving forward. When I worked in labor relations and negotiations I found that thinking about and being informed of the different needs of the parties involved can help immensely in bringing forward win-win solutions. I think the next generation deserves that from both major political parties. Fingers crossed.

I will be posting some Republican stuff as well when we get to that point. Republicans and Democrats in Michigan worked together on opening schools and doing some good stuff and I hope that bi-partisan approach catches on. That doesn't mean people need to compromise their principles it means that often what we think we are opposed to isn't the essential issue so there is plenty of room for compromise. For example, encouraging successful business and manufacturing leads to improved wages. Thus, we can't say it is all over here or all over there. We can say that if we can find what our most important national goals are we can draw in the different stakeholders to find solutions that push the country forward in a bi-partisan way. Yikes I always get hammered by idealism. Sometimes I think realism isn't the best path forward all the time. I think most people want to do whats right for our nation but have different ways of getting there. We can find a path forward.

Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport-One of the Nicest Airport Hubs

I'm a fairly seasoned traveler. I plan on doing some more travel outside the states soon but as far as traveling in the states I've been to a lot of different places.

Airports are well...airports... and there isn't much to do except work on your laptop. However, Minneapolis has a very nice hub.

Not that you have control over all your flights and price but when warranted I would recommend going through this airport for your connection hub.

Lots of very interesting restaurants and places to sit and wait. I'm not a big fan of staring into a blank wall but I will say that when you turn airports into fun malls it makes the travel experience more fun.

For business travelers some of those expenses are likely reimbursable so they might as well enjoy while they are working and waiting. It feels a little like your on your way to vacation, Cayman Islands or something.

White House Economic Adviser Discusses Impact of Financial Stimulus Response

COVID was unprecedented and it is doubtful that any stimulus package would be perfect but it appears from this video that what was offered was pretty good and made a significant impact on our economy. When economic shock occurs the standard process includes creating liquidity in the market that props up certain sectors to keep them moving, spending, and adjusting.

There is some discussion on what is going to happen next. Congress is currently engaged in discussions on the next stimulus package. Targeted areas could be more helpful if we expect to launch out of a COVID economy. That is dependent on whether or not there is a vaccine or natural reduction in risk. If we are very close to a vaccine I think we should consider that in any package to ensure that we are using our money as wisely as possible.

We must also consider a medium and long-term plan on how to develop the economy. I have been working on a theory to develop the right environment to create clusters that in turn speed innovation and develop new industries. That can only happen if important economic elements are moving, adjusting and changing through our natural American entrepreneurial spirit. Liquidity and cheap loans are part of that.

When Our Laws Are Subjectively Applied -What Aristotle Can Teach Our Public Officials about Protests and Justice

Ugly and immoral are not against the law as we are limited to legal jargon as poor carbon copies of justice. While the words are exact the application thereof is subjective. Aristotle believed in the fairness of justice as equity of the distribution throughout society.  Law is the framework by which we see Justice in our court systems but it is not the essential meaning or purpose of justice.  In history justice and legal jurisprudence have been different and we require judges to marry the two through wisdom.

To have a just society we must think beyond our current laws and into the greater concept of justice as brought forward by Aristotle and other philosophers. Applications of justice are based on these essential philosophical truths. I think these philosophers can teach modern society about how justice can enhance society, or with its absence, slowly erode the framework of society.

Providing another example of justice in law but not justice in action. History is full of stories of lost inheritance, theft, and destructive behaviors sparked by the greed for money. Money is an ideal objective of desire as money is a unit of labor which in term is seen as power and value in society. Feeling good means we must be praised by those around us and money helps create the benchmark.

While 9/10 ths of the law is possession it isn't necessarily the most moral way of looking at such situations. What if someone forged bank slips, collected and replaced a will, and didn't distribute an inheritance the way it was intended? One might consider that theft but if the person(s) is/are  executor of the estate and was entrusted to distribute the money but kept it...then that would also be immoral.

Immoral and illegal are different but it does break down the trust of law when laws are not applied to create justice.

To protect deceptive acts of greed the executors lied and pronounced nothing was left to the other person because it was left to them. To push the person away they said they were hated and thus were despised and rejected even though that didn't fit the situation. To further stake claim over the procured money they spread rumors to make the situation uncomfortable so as to leave no alternative explanation for others in the community to follow.

Let us say an alternative perspective as discovered decades later. The little comments, words, and actions that didn't make sense in their immediate form now fit within a larger context of theft. What was now hidden was brought to light and created an embarrassing situation. However, to make sure the truth stays buried they begin to lean on children as a warning to be silent.

In most societies intentionally involved and damaging children is illegal and immoral. That becomes especially true if the theft and involvement was based on the discounting of life because of bigotry and mental health dysfunction. The perpetrators would show no respect for the greater values of society except their own needs and wants. Extreme selfishness and dishonesty is rewarded when actions are not held accountable.

The last wills of the deceased, the health of children, the right to a positive reputation, family, or few other things would matter as long as they enrich themselves and protect their reputation. Laws that do not uphold basic morality cannot be trusted to ensure justice is distributed appropriately.

When society and local law enforcement turn a blind eye they are inadvertently sending a signal to the rest of society that such behaviors are acceptable under the circumstances under which the crimes were committed. We have to make an assumption that they were aware of the immoral actions, such actions are illegal, and there was a willful attempt to not uphold the law.

While most people believe that such behavior was very disgusting and of the most selfish kind but that may not make it illegal. If we move down this line of thinking and find out the same behavior is repeated again when another family member gets sick we can say this is not only pre-meditated but also highly coordinated among the beneficiaries.

Repeated acts indicate a methodology and lack of remorse.

Manipulation of the elderly, inheritance theft, and creating a false police report to attempt to have the victim arrested under false pretenses for uncovering the hidden crime should be illegal because it is immoral. Utilizing a local law enforcement friend to create additional pressure on the victim to be silent also should be illegal because it is immoral.

If none of these acts are illegal then the Justice system has room for reform because it fails to uphold a minimal level of morality. While legality and illegality are buried in the legal jargon of high academic attorneys and lawmakers it doesn't serve the purpose and intent of justice. The justice department should ensure we have a moral and just society.

If there is no investigation and no holding of such behaviors accountable then there is no illegal activity but that doesn't mean it is just. That activity may be inappropriate under the law but because the law is not applied with justice then there is no crime. Thus the law and justice are not exactly the same thing. They rely on each other for definition but follow different strains of application.

We might then say that justice and law are separate.

Following this logic we can say the law is only a tool of justice. If law is applied to one race or people differently than another then we have become unjust. Those who make the law and make decisions over others lives are not necessary just or unjust if they follow the law. Therefore, judges have a responsibility to use wisdom to create justice and choose when and how to apply the tools (i.e. law) for a rightful end.

Justice should be the essential goal when applying the law.

Before we can expect justice to be offered, and in turn create societal justice, we will need to ensure that laws are applied with justice in mind. Judges should be capable of making decisions beyond the laws to ensure that justice is created. In order for that to happen we must have judges who understand the philosophical nature of justice and how it creates social justice and in turn a just society that multiple sectors of society can believe in. Each decision to investigate, not investigate, apply or not apply the law should come to the end result of justice. To fail at this in multiple locations and across broad spectrum of society means we have become unjust. Socrates, one of the the founder fathers of justice, was sentenced by the law to take a hemlock potion outside the scope of justice. He taught us that the application of law can lead to justice but often doesn't do so and therefore there must also be a level of morality among our judges.

I am working on climbing Mount Everest to raise awareness of justice and the need for a more just society. No idea if I will actually climb it. I have been doing this for over a year when I found that justice is subjective to the application of law. Law is dependent on social position and the social groups of those who violate the laws and those who enforce them. It is then up to Justice to determine how law and morality are applied to create a more just society. I think each of us has to do our part to create a more just society that leads to better overall performance and quality of life. Its not an argument against police as I have respect for them as an important aspect of society but it is an argument against subjective use of the law and allowing criminal behavior to walk because of close association and inherent bias in the system. When children's lives no long matter, truth is ignored, and cruelty is acceptable but the law doesn't act then we must rethink our justice system and those entrusted to make decisions over it.

Persistence and Inquiry Fundamental to New Micro-Manufacturing Businesses

I own Escanaba Polo Mallet Company which is a micro-manufacturing good works company that will be used to understand how micro-manufacturing works within the U.S. and utilize some of the profits to help orphans, child enrichment programs and distressed horses. What I have found is that persistence and inquiry can help new entrepreneurs succeed in their businesses. It is that type of grit that keeps them going and the ability to continuously look for new answers.

Most businesses fail within the first few years. While there are financial and other issues involved typically persistence and inquiry are part of the process of building products successful that can be sold on the international market.

Let's look at an example. I sell practice mallets for around $70 dollars with free shipping. Most people love these mallets and I have repeat buyers. There are a few who don't like them and I get an occasion return. Personally I believe these returns are based on perception and personality but I must do my part to ensure I'm avoiding misalignment between customer expectation and the offering.

Persistence and Inquiry #1: I Changed the Listing Information:  Customers sometimes think the $70 mallet is the same as a $200 mallet. They are different. One is used just to teach the skills of the game and is a little lighter. The other one is of superior quality with a heavier head and perfectly straight shaft. So I adjusted the listing so that people know the difference between one and the other. That doesn't mean people always read the listing so I include a liberal return policy for the rare occasion there is a mismatch.

Persistence and Inquiry #2: Things don't necessary stop there. I have to develop a professional mallet and be able to sell it for a price lower then my competitors. That will be able to offer a comparison product in each of my listings. Something like, "This is a practice mallet if you are more interested in a professional mallet please check out......" Thus, I went in search of straighter canes and figured out a way to create a heavier head. Now customers can choose between a $150 professional mallet and a $70 practice mallet.

Customer confusion declines.....

Persistence means we don't give up on our business simply because we run into a few problems. Problems is what business is all about. As a matter of point, the goal is to solve as many problems as possible for your customers to increase their satisfaction. Make things easier, make them better, do more, and raise the value of your business through problem solving. Just be sure that you are focused on the goals of your business. Sometimes solutions have no market value.

Inquiry helps you find new ways of doing things. I went out and searched sources for new shafts that are straighter and within my price budget. Now I found where I can obtain the resource and have made a purchase to see if the quality will be good. Furthermore, I used inquiry to find a way to weight the head more to give it a little extra kick on the ball. That wouldn't have happened unless I explored ideas and looked up possible solutions.

As you work on your micro-manufacturing business think about persistence and inquiry to find new solutions.

You can always read a little article on Justify Budgets
