Lower Weights and Higher Reps (Complexity, Endurance, Strength)

If you have been reading my blog for a while you might know that I enjoy working out and other physical activities that range from self-defense to rock climbing. There has been a debate on low weights and high repetition as well as high weights and low repetition. While each has their own benefit there is also a benefit in changing up a workout from one to the other. 

At present I'm going to start using lower weights and higher repetition for a little while (i.e. a couple of weeks) to see if there are any changes. 

1.) Variability from high weight and low weight exercises can make a difference in ensuring muscles are being forced to adjust to different weights. 

2.) Lower weight and higher repetition will allow me to consider complex movements which will also movability, range of motion, and strengthen smaller stabilizer muscles. 

3.) Lower weight can also help raise the heart rate and increase fat burn while still building muscle. 

4.) Using lower weights and higher repetition can help train muscles to have more endurance. 

You can take a look at a study that helps to show how high 1 rep weights can increase muscle in some movements faster but may not have impact on other movements. Likewise, higher repetitions also gain muscle but also endurance. Each has their benefit.

Senators Prepare Gun Bills: They Will Get it Done Because If the Trend Continues They Will have Few Options

Gun laws will change because if these trends continue the average citizen, law enforcement agencies, more and more politicians will find it an absolutely necessary. Pressure to act will rise and to avoid even more restrictive laws it would make sense to consider practical solutions now. Those that are holding out will be seen as reckless (Its an observation and not an advocacy.). That isn't an argument for anyone's plan because I don't know what they are. We will have to wait to see what the come up with. They will obviously have different approaches from their different perspectives. While there may be some people who may have a use for these military grade guns they simply shouldn't be in the average person's hands.

Cruise Missiles Won't Win the War for Russia: Ukrainian Air Defense is Needed

 Launching cruise missiles is more show than actual strength. Airstrikes are dangerous so there is an argument for stronger air defense. Putin has to move troops into a home country and as long as the Ukrainians are willing to fight and defend it will be a hard fought and costly win. If the Russians could win this quickly they would have done so already. They are trying to grind down Ukrainians so finding strategies to defend better and increase Russian casualties is important. That includes kill zones, longer range artillery, strategic strikes to keep Russian troops on defenses vs offences, more ground to air support,  supplying basic necessities for morale reasons and high levels of diplomatic pushes. I might also develop rapid squads for movement, support, and quick strikes against moving targets.

I also agree with the news report that if he wins here he may end up trying to reclaim the Soviet Empire in other areas. 

Succeeding is About Focus and Persistence

Succeeding in life, work, school, or hobby is about focus. We make choices everyday over how we spend our time and how that times is used productively or unproductively. If we want to learn how to fix our car we watch videos, ask questions, and think about our cars. If we seek to get through college we spend our time studying, reading, completing papers and engage in college oriented pursuits. The same can be said for our careers and hobbies. 

A few things to think about:

1.) Are you spending your time focused on your goals or something else?

2.) Did you define your goals in a way that they are achievable?

3.) Do you have the resources to achieve your goals?

4.) Is your goal important enough to maintain persistence?

5.) Do you have the right social support to achieve your goals?

6.) Where do you see yourself once you achieve your goal?

Very sad state of affairs. A trend line is forming. Let us just watch in horror as most of us have no way of really stopping it or protecting our families. I believe if this continues we will have overwhelming pressure on both parties to find solutions.

Human Herd and Rationality Behaviors

Someone might be able to set forward a January 6th Coup Case with evidence but these things should be decided by a judge and jury within the Judicial Branch. Some are arguing that a coup was attempted and some are arguing that it was nothing but "politics as usual". What I can say is that it looks like there are lots of issues stemming from a strong personalities and those who follow those personalities.

I say our nation is important and it was created for us We the People and not for our politicians alone. We have a system that existed because it has three legs and those legs must function properly to succeed.  The Judicial System was designed to handle conflict and disputes and should be allowed to do that.

At this point if our legislative branch is in chaos and unable to take their national responsibilities seriously (i.e. being ideologically so bent on Republican and Democrat that rational thought is no longer possible or expected by most of them.) then we must rely on the Judicial Branch and hope they can stand for something greater. Law enforcement ultimately relies on their authority and they owe responsibility to following the outcomes of any decisions regardless of their personal politics.  

I'm not going to pick a side at the moment but I always stand with the people and their needs. I'm not an elitist and I'm not part of the "connected" class but through sweat and tears made my own opinions. That means I'm completely disposable and their is a power in not giving a poo poo what either side thinks (Our country is too important for this constant conflict! There are incentives to prosecute and incentives to avoid prosecution so its a dangerous situation but the truth will now need to be ferreted out. Good job putting us all at risk! That doesn't apply to everyone but certainly to the trouble makers and their followers. Some are actually trying to do the right thing. We must only look to our left and to our right at those in our parties and then ignore them. Dig deep into your own values and determine what you really believe. Its your conscious and no party, person, or politic can own your soul---at least shouldn't be able to...its called confidence and independence of thought and that is the stuff of leadership. It is important to remember that the loudest voices in the room don't represent Conservatism or Liberals. These are philosophies that have lasted a long time and supersede the current rhetoric. The best thing I can do is step back and be divergent. Take a "birds eye" view of the situation and provide any guidance anyone is willing to listen; I have a Muslim sounding name so probably not many.

No doubt that there is a lot of smoke around all types of behaviors and as in all social groups people sort of follow the herd without keeping their eye on the prize (In case your confused its democracy and the philosophy of self governance that dates back pre ancient Greece.). Whether innocent or guilty we should respect the judicial system to enforce an interpretation of law (That does not mean there isn't room for improvement). 

I encourage my Republican and Democrat friends to step back, think about the fate of Democracy, where our national strengths lay, and let the Judicial system determine guilt, innocence or something more. Let us not muddy our values through spit ball fights, insults, food throwing or much much worse! While rams might butt heads it is the herd that must survive. 😬

A word to caution. We should always be skeptical if people are trying to force their opinions on others without critical thought or ability to understand the "facts". Its not a Democrat or Republican argument...its a human nature argument. Its called an ulterior motive and we don't want anyone leading us that uses power over versus power with (We won't survive but a decade or so in a pure power over situation).

While I'm a light right "old guard" Republican I have enough respect for our judicial system, the process of evidence discovery (as based in scientific method), and jury selection to say, "I trust they will make the right decisions". Not always but its the best we have. At this moment in history I do not trust either party to see things clearly....unless you are a centralist (i.e. meaning a critical thinker.)

Anyone not leaving it to the Judicial system has already sold out our institutions and exploiting others to get their way (Throwing out there rhetoric to influence and anger the masses.). It would be nice if they all just zipped their lips and let the court take its course (Of course they won't because they have the answers without asking the right questions. Steak, potatoes and cake!). History will correct this but whether it does this/next year or in 20 years remains to be seen. In hindsight we might be happy people used a rational approach.

Philadelphia Coordinated Shooting: 3 Dead and 12 Injured

 Three are dead and 11 injured. The motives haven't been released but if this is indiscriminate shooting into the crowd it is not a gang fight but actual terrorism. We have some people who are indirectly/inadvertently supporting these behaviors and we have a large amount of people who want to find solutions. I think this is the time when we really must think about the trend and potential solutions. 

There will come a point where people will stop talking about the rights of some over the lives of others and will want action; maybe. Our schools don't need to be prisons, dancing shouldn't come with young lives being snuffed out, and if you are the "other" (meaning anyone someone hates) you should not have to look over your shoulder. 

I'm starting to think this isn't as sort of random as perceived. I would check with each of these suspects all of their phones, emails, social media accounts and more to just to see if there are catalysts or these are simple media copycats (We have to wait until the investigation is over to find out what the motives were.). Perhaps a little of both. Researchers should be looking now and trying to find patterns in the fog. 

Rowing Competition: Probably Won't Be Able to Move Tomorrow

 Two 8 man teams went into the water and we practices for about an hour and a half consistently. These were full strokes at full speed. We had three pull starts and long distances to cover. Let me say that if you are not used to this type of workout you will feel it the next day. While I was doing it this morning I will say that I can tell a couple of hours after I'm gong to be sore. A couple of scholarship college racers joined us.  Great fun but not for the faint hearted!

The Free Pass for Hate. Wise? Leaders Should Act on a National Level (An Argument of Values and Leadership)

Thinking about why were still giving a free pass for hate and not capable of holding people to account. In my mind, at a minimum mandatory mental health is needed but to others two thumbs up and a nod of pleasure seems to make more sense. Some mouths will be aghast and others will clap with glee!

That comes down to a essential values in society. Some categories of people are seen as higher and some categories as lower (Of course these are heuristic categories that represent almost nothing.).  Free passes perpetuate the hate and allow it to continue to fester in our collective conscious underbelly.

People like me are seen as having low value and low worth in society for something as shallow as a Muslim sounding name or mixed race children. Even if we are doing the right things there will be those who target with the wink and nod approval of others (I have been there multiple times so I have first hand account of the wan ton disparities that the ignorant throw on everyone else.).

That is why I disagree with hate in all its forms no matter who the perpetrator and who the target. It doesn't matter the race, religion or factor as hate loses its rationality when anchored within a distorted mind or political manipulation.

In civilized societies that seek to draw the highest talents we have to break through the superficiality of perspective and judgement. We have to become more logical and willing to think long term about what current resources we have, the trajectory of change, and where we will need to be in 10,20, 30+ years (FDI Skills). 

Lack of seriousness of dealing with these central issues to American value and finding solutions means we will always be at risk at some point (We seem to get more wise in hindsight and increasingly wise when we ourselves experience what we ignored for lack of importance to us. It seems to be someone else's problem and those people have low value kind of thinking; at least until its not.). While I can only offer a vantage point I cannot snap my fingers and give people a moral conscious.  

Free passes are not really free passes, they are only dumped in the bucket of moral failures of dealing with hate that will likely be spilled over at some point soiling all the white cloth by which people see themselves. Let's do the right thing! Republicans and Democrats! Work together and find bi partisan solutions. Your value is in your utility and we may someday find trust in those institutions declining to a dangerous level. 

Really? What does it take? Is human life and national unity not enough incentive or are you looking for a raise? Try some deeper patriotism and respect for our institutions and the value of democracy to the world! If you can't see the value in what our nation represents and its opportunities to be something greater then you are not qualified to lead.  Most cant see what is in front of them. 👀💁 Time answers all questions. ✌❤🤷‍♂️

P.S. Flipping burgers is more honorable than selling out your values and in turn your own people. Just saying some value their oaths and others used them as a "formality". 😤
