Tracked down to the docks with my fishing pole the other day. I didn't catch the pike and did take the picture in Wells the night prior but its a beauty so I posted it. Anyway, the Escanaba area has lots of great fishing places you can cast a line form the shore such as Escanaba Harbor, Gladstone Harbor, Wells boat launch, Rapid River boat launch and Ford River boat launch.
I just happen to be lucky enough to buy a $500 used boat, trailer and old Johnson motor. The guy swears the engine works! I believe him except I had to buy a new gas tank because he wanted his old one. Because of the age I just can't get it to fit right to draw the fuel so the engine is going on the horse in the garage to ensure the connectors are tight. (You can run an outboard in a large bucket or barrel.)
I can fix lots of things but it take me time to figure them out. In this case, I might need to zip tie or wire in the connector because of the way the old motor is designed it doesn't quit fit perfect with the new connectors. Very close but just not tight enough.
That is why I'm using the electric lately and thinking about finding a more powerful electric motor (I don't think there are any but will need to look around). I'm not going fast but I am getting around. What I do like is that its super easy and almost no parts that can be broken or disconnected. It is also relatively cheap. I had one sitting in the garage with a boat battery.
With electric just don't want to go too far out if I'm unsure how long the battery will last. A couple of few areas of improvement are 1.) power of motor, 2.) longevity of battery power, and 3.) quick recharge.
Same process that is used to study COVID can be used to discuss UAP. HERE. That means one can create buckets for all of the major possible outcomes and then create an unknown bucket for things we don't yet conceive. As each piece of data is discovered it is placed in the buckets in which it applies. More data leads to some buckets having more data than others. Once you went through all of the data you can start thinking about creating an understanding of how the data within a bucket fit together. Those buckets that have the most data and have the most parsimonious theoretical explanations would be your leading theory. Likewise looking for other sources of data (i.e. different observations and sensors) can lead to creating validity (i.e. pilot eye sight/observation, different countries, different camera, multiple sensors, multiple incidents, similarities in ship design/characteristics, sensor manufacturing, etc.). Everyone is talking about the Great Replacement Theory and all the experts are coming out to give their opinions. They all have a piece of how it impacts extremism in this country but might be missing a few things. This theory is only part of the general problem, issue and resolution. We knew this problem was brewing for some time and until we almost took down our nation and capital as we dragged our feet on bipartisan solutions (Its a collective problem).
It is rooted in some people's belief in the symbolism of culture and political power and what our country should look like. I'm a light right Republican and believe that the Constitution is our overriding social contract and that applies to all peoples (That is not a debate on our immigration polices, the numbers, etc...) but it is a debate on how perceived changes in national demographics are being used to heighten fear (Why I have been advocating for GOP to be more inclusive of differences. They are great people and I know they are going to come around because its the right thing to do {I have been encouraged by some to take a leadership position and told by others my "Muslim Sounding Name" would disqualify me for any real importance. Before Democrats snicker they also have some work to do and are stoking their own extreme pockets. They are equally blinded by us versus them politics {maybe we are one nation with different ideas on how to get there. Anything is negotiable if we want to share perspectives Conflict Model and Communication}Just wait a minute and we will see. Bad karma brings more bad karma. So let us think together how we are going to save our nation and our people from ourselves. Patriotism comes in different forms.)
This isn't some isolated incident. Some say it is ONLY about race. Its not only about that. Its about race, religion, entitlement and indifference. I've seen this happen were large groups of people are willing to support intentionally false information under social pressure (they are actually being bullied themselves to accept lower order values but don't think in those terms. Allegory of Cave. i.e. slaves to forms) and in turn set up boundaries in society and create subjectivity in our legal, hiring, and social structure.
It makes no difference to some if you served your country, objective U.S. history isn't part of the equation, or one's loyalty to nation or accomplishments in life. It comes down to who you are hanging out with, what things they talk about, the perception of power, skewed identities, misperception of nationalism (most are shallow forms of patriotism based on lower level identities), the political spectrum, and institutional integrity (i.e. meaning misuse of power/trust should not be tolerated.). We can call this phenomenon an undercurrent of sociological significance (I might not be using the wrong terminology. I wasn't rich enough to go to Harvard. I actually like Harvard. Sorry.)
It is also difficult to change with a few days of public outrage and then settling back into old dysfunctional patterns o indifference and denial (I'm not advocating for any race but the universalization of the value of American life.). We can design better methods of detection and send people to counseling that display aggression and manipulation that are rooted in our social networks.
For example, in a situation in which I'm familiar because of blind loyalty and lack of exposure the ex-sports playing homogeneous network will not peel from their leadership to find a better path forward (Most are good people so my plan is to continue to engage positively but be bluntly honest. I know I'm seen as the "bitch" in this group and they have no problem yelling that out to my kids. I'm confused on the definition in this situation 🤔). They see the problems they face as from "those" people and not of their own making (You can't get more distorted or directed then that!)
At what point does misuse of legitimate authority for self serving behaviors (i.e. corruption), mixed with chatter (Facebook and social media), coordinated aggression, and environmental support push disgruntled members of a clan (likely led by someone with a mental health issue) to be a lone wolf? Spreading intentionally false information and ostracization is about creating "untouchables" in society and in turn encouraging group disdain (Most people might actually like the "other" but are forbidden through social expectation from socializing with the "enemy". i.e. hence they create two societies with different rules for each. We need to get everyone back to a shared perspective and a single society. "Stupid is as Stupid Does"). It only takes one to pull the trigger!
I got a couple of ideas but they are pretty stupid I guess (I mean I do have a Muslim sounding name. i.e. lower value, lower IQ, lower loyalty, lower everything.....oh and my kids are mixed race and were intentionally targeted....again lower lower lower in the minds of the perpetrators and their blind followership. I suspect there are others in our national leadership who also feel the same. The real value of a person is different from socially constructed misperceptions. i.e. subjective reality from limited perception. 🤷🤓) You have to change the environment and its assumptions. Critical thinking and moral conscious become a necessity for that change. Ponder the stupidity of.....another unfinished theory. I got at least two that will likely be helpful someday (one on rapid innovation systems for government, military and industry. They aren't finished.) but let us wait and see. Who knows....I have to go to the grocery store and serve my community. It only takes one! We should head the call of greatness to build the best most enlightened nation by adhering to universal values we can sell globally and an economic system that brings real opportunities for those who put forward the effort. Today I just paid for my fishing boat broadside slip. There are still a few spots left. Escanaba is an underdeveloped place that certainly has opportunities for investment downtown, hotel, industry and perhaps a hotel run marina. That also includes development of ship building capacity and other important things. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box . ⌧ Other readings....
I know the blog is a little heavy sometimes. Anyway, Mo is my horse and he is pretty well trained as a general horse. That is his girlfriend. I have no idea her name but as he walked by she was making all types of noised. As soon as he got into the paddock she ran over to him. The lady that works in the stables says they are a real couple. Let me put a word of caution about elite education. I love Harvard, Yale, etc.. (and even flunked a class from one of their extension programs.) What I am going to say is that highly socialized people from similar backgrounds with the same professors is not the full way to go in situations like this. You need mental diversity and new ways of thinking about unknown problems.
While a team of scientists might include half of these interconnected, similar thinking, data diggers (nothing wrong with it. I'm just being jealous because I didn't have these opportunities. I pretty much lived on my own since 16.5 years old. 😔) that team should also include other types of people from non-elite university, industry, and creative people. Of course you can bring horses to water but you can't make them drink especially if there are pay checks, govt. contracts and opportunities involved.
As we debate how strong we want to be in the future we should probably open up our opportunities to include not only these elite scientists but also other types of scientists that weren't socialized to similar methodologies and often the same conclusions (Remember...unknown things will be difficult to define, understand and apply if you look at them from the same socio-cultural lens from similar backgrounds.). Think of how completely new ideas come from paradigm shifts and that doesn't come from using the same methodologies but often from people who thought differently.
President Biden discusses hate and how we should find solutions. In many ways there are multiple factors that relate to mental health, social groups, social media, false perceptions, devaluing of human life, hyper politics, rapid change globally, etc... We often call this the internal factors that are adjusting to external pressures (i.e. live streaming hate through social media and in turn actively fighting it through stronger mental feedback loops through cognitive engagement and creating new neural networks through self interest. I wonder if it is possible to change perception by providing the type of information that forces extremists on these networks to think about the meaning of information to solve problems that lead them to greater awareness of the dangers of such beliefs? {worm and hook} {Kind of like those books that you pick a choice and then jump to a page.} Tools of the digital era? 🤔 Sorry thinking out of the box. Forget it...the old ways seems to be working good enough I guess. 🤷 We are struggling with policies for mandatory counseling, coding, and understanding macro trends when violence, bullying and extremism are present. i.e. outward projection of inward angst {i.e. where they got radicalized, who were they talking to, are there officials involved, what language is being used, information coming from overseas, etc..}.Wouldn't it be awesome to solve problems prior to them becoming bigger issues. Dumb idea I guess. ). These are patterns of change of different versions of how we see each other and our country.
I advocate for bi-partisanship, critical thinking, early intervention and long term solutions. Sometimes hate is embedded in some of our institutions and not easy to discover and other times it is lone wolf radicalism. In my experience rumors and chatter are not innocent and often part of other more serious communication networks information (Sometimes they could even be foreign manipulated to create problems through websites, social media and extremist networks).
Republicans and Democrats must be on the same page with this with genuine national interest. There should be no foot dragging when the signs are present and behaviors become apparent. While one may lead to violence it is often the context of such bad behavior on a social level that activates the lone wolf. We need a single conception of what it means to be an American. A universal conception of an "American" and in turn ensuring our institutions seek to maintain societal trust through objective critical thinking and "moral conscious" (It only seems dumb that I keep saying it now but it does have I believe an important point. Time answers all questions.)
Its interesting because histories in the U.P. are long and are not that far removed from our roots. Many times downtowns look similar to what they did 100's of years ago. We are a hardy people who have become accustomed to rural wood like living on the Great Lakes.
Signs of extremism are often present and easy to detect if one knows the behavior characteristics (Its not race or religion specific). I have advocated for early intervention through mental health avenues to code and understand bigger issues that have led to situations such as the Buffalo shooting and the sacking of our Capitol. As with many important issues we face it isn't of concern unless it impacts our political elite in some way and typically by then their bat swing is beyond the ball.
My family and I have been subjected to targeting by a group of ex mediocre sports players from 30 years ago who were supported by what appears to be local corruption among a few close associate officers of the group (Most are good people but are socialized to blindly support their friends leaving them in the passive support category. That's a soft problem to solve. I have some ideas on it.).
Multiple incidents of racial slurs and provocative aggressive behaviors that could have led to violence under the wrong mix of personalities, alcohol/drugs (EQ helped here). The situation highlighted prior uninvestigated concerns that were not taken seriously and in turn not opening an avenue to discovering important clues that may lead to unveiling of deeper issues (Maybe something of maybe nothing 🤷).
The danger of lone wolf supporters of "my town" mentality have persisted up until at least a few months ago; and likely continues on. We seem to lack the moral courage to universalize our values and tackle thorny issues like this until it's too late. Hate has no place in modern America but persist under passive support.
The backward values that persist among some in our hometowns and political spectrums should not be pushed to the helm of deciding our domestic affairs. At least that is if we care about the long term health of the nation. I guess we should decide if our nation belongs to all of us or some of us.
I say America is about freedom rallied around core values we all share. It's for all of us! Some may disagree and actively work to create societal schisms 🤔
