If you have been following along you will become aware of dehumanization thought experiment. Two stages which include first an institutional default based on ethnocentric social clan affiliations ( in and out group) and the second a dehumanization stage.
In this learning example someone spread rumors and warped the justice institution in a way that put victims at risk and rewarded the perpetrators despite overwhelming evidence and witnesses. Strengthening institutions means accepting other points of view for improvement and not allowing clan affiliations, hate or other isms impact their performance. They belong to all of us.
The victims know they have been dehumanized and the perpetrators know they were able to warp the system because they were protected. They are gleeful with the results and act that way with all the proudness of first class citizens interacting with second class citizens (by practical realized outcomes).
We are exploring how this can happen in modern times when there should have been checks and balances in a diverse society.
A question might be can victims accept their second class dehumanized position in society (I think they can under certain circumstances of injustice)? If they seek to be treated fairly or help other victims should they be quickly retaliated against to remind them of their "place"? How might dehumanization occur from a step to step process?
I like to read philosophy sometimes because it is the sciences of the ancients. The culture that this philosophy is not as important as their universal meanings. We can only dehumanize others if we cannot see ourselves accurately and thus are slaves to our bias, bigotries, and need to place oneself above others. The Hidden Meaning of Plato’s Cave Allegory
This seems like an interesting perspective. The author asked if it's possible to study everyday dehumanization? Yes, if they are familiar with the process and can catch and observe in real time as its occurring. That would be rare.
