2024 Higher Education Trends: There is More to it Than That!

Considering that my blog is sometimes focused on really important things that are at times not seen as important (i.e. central American values) it is helpful to delve into other important topics such as Higher Education. How can we build a great nation without thinking about the human capital that will be the one primary overriding input on how technology is used to create real value for American people.

Sorry.....I digress and the soap box is slide over.

2024 Higher Education Trends: There is More to it than that!

Higher education is in the cusp of change and as structures are in the process of changing within our society, they are likely going to impact higher education at a faster pace. Jobs are changing, nations are becoming more competitive, and employers need new skills in order to succeed on the global market (assuming they are thinking about enhancing our country and not others.). The same can be said for new businesses and entrepreneurs that will reach for enhanced skills to find their niche. That means there will be increasing pressure on older structures to adjust to allow for newer structures.

Despite the change in technology the same process of philosophers conversing under an olive tree and across virtual mediums is relatively the same in terms of transference of knowledge. The quality of the education and its outcomes as it influences life quality and income capacity will be central. Old physical structures are still needed, and online portable structures can comingle to create different learning interfaces and touch points.

A few  quick thoughts on what some institutions can do to enhance quality and outcomes....

1. Align to industry needs as much as possible. Skills needed by the maret.

2. Enhance the individual through self-awareness so that thought processes are updated. The whole person approaches.

3. Teach basic civic, ethical and moral values. We must live in a society, and these are our future leaders so they will need a basic value set and ways of interacting. Same stuff religious and secular philosophers have discussed since the advent of society.

4. Respect of knowledge and lifelong learning to encourage continuous growth throughout one's life thereby enhancing the amount of human capital and the quality of that human capital in the market.

5. Applied theory that ensures that future leaders know how to take the rapid change in technology and science and put it to good use for national innovation.

6. Got any thoughts of your own?
