Escanaba City Counsel (December 21, 2023) Presentation on Growth in Events and Interest

Escanaba is a town in transition and the elements are coming together in a way that is leading to greater engagement and growth for the whole community. People are out and about socializing in town, they are attending events, decorating their houses, and creating a more enriching environment that has already attracted tourism interest and investment dollars. General mood is positive and people seem to be jolly and merry!

Particularly, I like the idea of busing people around to see the lights and encouraging the town to look festive. People love to come and see that stuff! Perhaps in the future consider a large scale community art project, contest for the best house and a prize/plague and feature on the city's website [Would work for small business as well in the downtown area to keep it looking great!]. It gets pictures online [social media], people visit during the holidays and residents move downtown to the visit local businesses.

Figuring out how to augment summer and winter events into a woven marketing strategy that attracts entrepreneurs and investment is what differentiates places that gains market exposure.  Much of that is marketing focus, available information, and actively searching out elements that enhance the whole town. i.e. attracting entrepreneurs and industrial investment through an exceptional living environment.

What you will also find is that people are engaged positively with government and supportive of each other [We might reflect on democracy at its root.]. Communities are built from this sense of togetherness and they thrive when people see each other as valued members of society [No discussion on politics, just solutions and improvement.  Its a beautiful thing seeing people working together.]. These people solve problems in a holistic way and government is the conduit to that beneficial change 👍 [🙏].

What would be nice and interesting to see is the encouragement of the very young people [18-25] to become involved in government in these intimate committees and allow them to share their diverse perspective to help build their town for the future [Also engaging them in a generational to generational way.] The power of engagement is at our fingertips if we know how to play the fiddle's tune right [i.e. knowing what to do and when to do it in economic growth is a challenging affair. So far they are moving the needle.].

The area is open to investment and I suspect they would respond positively to interest.
